After sharing what not to do before Chinese New Year, the natural question is:
So… what should I do instead?
The answer is simpler than most people expect.
Before Chinese New Year, Feng Shui isn’t about activating, fixing, or transforming everything.
It’s about creating space so the new cycle can land gently.
Here’s 5 suggestions that do help:
1. Start at the front door
Clear the entryway, wipe the door, reset the welcome mat.
This is where opportunity enters, keep it calm and uncluttered.
2. Fix the small, nagging things
Leaky taps, broken handles, flickering lights.
These quietly drain energy more than people realise.
3. Edit one area, not the whole house
Choose a space that feels heavy or ignored and release what no longer belongs there.
4. Clean with intention, not urgency
Slow, mindful clearing is far more powerful than frantic cleaning.
5. Set one clear intention for the year ahead
Not a list. Just one word or feeling you want your home to support, calm, ease, wealth, clarity.
That’s it.
When your home feels lighter, clearer, and more intentional, it naturally supports what’s next, without force.
Because Feng Shui doesn’t work by doing more.
It works by removing friction first.
Warmly,
Katherine Reed
