As Chinese New Year approaches, I often see well-intentioned homeowners accidentally work against the energy they’re trying to support.
So let’s simplify it.
Here are the 7 of the most common Feng Shui mistakes to avoid before Chinese New Year, especially if life already feels full.
1. Don’t rush to buy “activators”
Crystals, symbols, cures, adding before clearing usually creates noise, not results.
2. Don’t deep-clean the entire house in one go
Overwhelm raises stress energy. Feng Shui works best when adjustments are calm and intentional.
3. Don’t ignore broken or leaky items
Dripping taps, faulty lights, and damaged items quietly drain energy, and momentum.
4. Don’t overload your entryway
Shoes, bags, deliveries and clutter at the front door block opportunities from arriving smoothly.
5. Don’t rearrange without purpose
Random changes can unsettle energy. Placement should support flow, not just novelty.
6. Don’t wait until the last minute
Energy shifts before the celebration. Subtle preparation beforehand makes the biggest difference.
7. Don’t assume Feng Shui means more to do
Real Feng Shui removes friction, it doesn’t add tasks to an already busy life.
The most supportive thing you can do before Chinese New Year isn’t adding anything new.
It’s creating space.
Because in Feng Shui, what you release determines what can arrive next.
Stay tuned next week for WHAT TO DO INSTEAD!
Warmly,
