Your Kua Number is calculated using your year of birth and, in traditional Feng Shui, it reveals the directions that are most supportive for you energetically.
These directions are often referred to as your personal success directions.
In classical Feng Shui, each person has four supportive directions that influence areas such as:
• Personal growth
• Health and wellbeing
• Relationships
• Prosperity and opportunities
And four directions that tend to feel less supportive.
This doesn’t mean a direction is “good” or “bad.” Rather, it reflects how comfortably your personal energy interacts with the directional energy of a space.
When you begin working with your supportive directions, small adjustments can make a noticeable difference.
For example:
• Positioning your desk so you face one of your success directions
• Orienting your bed to align with supportive energy
• Choosing the direction you face when making important decisions or planning
These subtle shifts help place you in alignment with the energetic flow that supports your natural strengths.
What’s important to remember is that this is just one layer of Feng Shui.
Your personal directions work in combination with the energy of the home itself. A property also has its own energetic pattern based on its orientation and the time it was built, which is why deeper Feng Shui analysis looks at both the person and the property together.
But understanding your Kua Number is a fascinating place to begin.
It’s one of the first moments where people realise that Feng Shui is not simply about decorating a space.
